Apr 16, 2011 · At some point my system icons disappeared from my system tray (the little tray at the left edge of the Windows task bar). Here is what I wanted it to look like: I found may posts and complaints about this problem spanning XP, Vista and now Windows 7. Most said, try this fix (a variety of suggestions)…it may or may not work.
The system icons built into Windows-such as the clock, volume, network, power, and action center icons-are configured separately. Click the "Turn system icons on or off" link at the bottom of the window to configure them. To hide an icon, select the "Off" option for that icon here. This screen works differently from the first one. The Tray icon only shows the network/Ethernet adapter; the wifi icon is missing. Normally I'd click on the wifi icon to connect to wifi networks; that option is not available. Instead I get "Not Connected - No Connections Available." (If I plug in an Ethernet cable, that message goes away. But I need wifi!) I have a brand new hp laptop with win10 pro. Installed dropbox latest from website but not able to get dropbox to start or show in system tray. Have disabled all AV and re moved and re installed dropbox via offline install.
